Sailing Ships

Time seems to be so short
yet I wait patiently here
in the dock of my journey.
Anticipation rises
and the morning sun dawns
for the last time in this belated era
of my life.
All sails are mended
and the ship’s hull is nearly patched
and ready to set sail.
The boat leaves the dock
all ropes are cut
and it sails again
anxious and brave
knowing that calm waters
aren’t the only thing in store for it.
In a picturesque moment, everything is frozen
the water, the few birds soaring from here to there
the dog left barking on the pier.
A baker opens his store just like any other day
getting the flour and kneading the dough.
And the boat is well on its way
just out of port
with an idea of a course laid out
with adventure leading the way.
Ahoy Captain, All sails are full!
